Doctor. Teacher. Healer. Philanthropist.
Twenty years on the front line. Now, prevention.
Dr. Tiffany Keenan, MD, CCFP, has practised emergency medicine alongside family practice for twenty years. What she saw there changed how she practises now.
Her story
From the emergency room to the root cause
Dr. Keenan is originally from New Brunswick, Canada. After two decades treating what arrives at the emergency department door, she reached a conviction that now shapes everything she does: most of what she treated could have been prevented, years earlier, upstream.
Today she practises Personalized Lifestyle Medicine between New Brunswick and Bermuda, where she lived from 2008 to 2012 while working at King Edward Memorial Hospital, and returned in 2020. Nutrition, gut health, functional genomics, and mind-body awareness are the key elements of her practice. She works with patients to find the root cause of dis-ease in the body, and she believes community, being surrounded by like-minded people, is itself a key to living with vitality.
Medicine has also taken her far from home. In 2006 she founded Haiti Village Health, a nonprofit providing sustainable healthcare in northern Haiti, and served as its Executive Director for eight years. After the 2010 earthquake she spent extensive time in Haiti working alongside the Canadian Military and the United Nations, managing airport operations and logistics for medical personnel in the country's south.
